  Owner's Comments

Barleone, imported from Germany in July 2004, was specifically selected to compliment American-bred mares and offers a unique pedigree, as he is half European Thoroughbred and half Holsteiner. His scores with the AWR were exceptional with an overall rating of 8.9, First Premium Premier. Judges comments included “Excellent young stallion with good natural balance and gaining in confidence. Superb carriage and elasticity and enough suspension. Excellent attitude and work ethic.” Barleone’s sire, Barnaul, foaled in 1985 is one of three Thoroughbred stallions approved and registered with the Holsteiner Verband. His sire Club House xx is Irish-born. Barnaul’s dam is from a Polish strain that produced outstanding event horses and international show jumpers. Barnaul had a very successful racing career then became highly successful at show jumping competitions, and excelled at cross-country courses. His offspring are very true to type and endowed with fluent paces. Barleone’s dam, Hiske is by the great Corleone, who begin his show jumping career in 1989, and immediately was a winner in the International Jumper Ring. Corleone’s sire, Coletto II sired the mare Classic Touch 1992 Olympic champion. His dam Elite II also produced the international competition mare Las Vegas. Corleone was initially at stud in Wahrden from 1986, until he went to the Netherlands in 1993. He has six approved sons and five premium state mares as well a large number of top show jumpers. Barleone’s sibling, Butcher, was in Sydney at the Olympic Games competing in eventing and another sibling, Barinello was Reserve Champion at the stallion testing in Holstein. Barleone moved this year to Nancy Maloney's Crossroads Farm in WI where he is making his debut in the show ring and carrying on the winning tradition of his great ancestors. At his first show Barleone took two first places and one second place, making him champion of his division! Barleone is destined for a stellar career over fences! Barleone’s first foal crop arrived in 2006. Every foal scored a First Premium, and one filly achieved the coveted First Premium Premiere status! This lovely young stallion is well on the way to proving himself in the breeding barn as he consistently improves conformation and movement in every breeding. Barleone will stand in 2007 to a limited number of mares as he pursues his show career.
